How We Can Help
Early Intervention Program
Ages: 18M-8 Years
Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program offers personalized one-to-one therapy for children enrolled with Strong Beginnings. Delivered by trained behavior technicians under the expert supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), our therapy sessions vary based on individual needs.
These sessions provide children with engaging opportunities to interact with toys and participate in functional play, which helps in developing essential developmental and adaptive skills needed for independence. We focus on teaching crucial skills to remediate the developmental deficits in alignment with DSM-V Autism Spectrum Disorder guidelines and criteria.
Our aim is to enhance the quality of life for each child by promoting independence and ensuring that skills are generalized and maintained across different settings, people, and conditions. We utilize a range of effective teaching techniques to create a productive and enjoyable learning experience.
Parent Training
At Strong Beginnings, we believe that parents play a vital role in their child’s progress. We actively encourage parent participation during therapy sessions to foster effective communication and create meaningful learning opportunities. By collaborating closely with our team, parents can learn strategies to support their child’s development both during and outside of therapy.
Parent training is a key part of our program. Our Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) provide comprehensive training to help parents understand and apply the techniques and procedures we use in therapy. This empowers parents to reinforce the skills learned during sessions, promoting consistency and growth in their child’s everyday environment.
We view parent participation not only as a requirement, but as a crucial element of our approach. Working together, we can ensure a productive, positive, and personalized experience for every child. Our services are designed to support the children currently enrolled with Strong Beginnings and align with each family’s unique values and goals.

Meet Our Clinical Director
Berenice Diaz, MEd., BCBA, LBA
ABA Therapist | Founder | Clinical Director
Berenice is the founder and director of Strong Beginnings, LLC, where her dedication to children with special needs shines through her work and community involvement. Her passion began at 18 in the public school system, and her deep roots in Yuma inspired her to address the lack of resources for families of children with Autism. After earning a Bachelors in Elementary and Special Education and dual certification from Northern Arizona University, she pursued a Masters in Special Education with a focus on Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis. She is a QBS Certified Safety-Care trainer providing the skills and competencies necessary for equipping staff with the tools to provide safe and effective care with dignity when working with challenging behaviors in clients.
With over 22 years of experience, Berenice has not only provided exceptional ABA therapy but has also actively contributed to her community. She founded the annual Strong Beginnings Walk for Autism in Yuma County in 2019 and has supported local organizations through sponsorships, including Yuma Catholic High School, Dancers Workshop, and Immaculate Conception.
As a mentor and community advocate, Berenice is committed to offering compassionate, child-led support while giving back to the community that shaped her. She is devoted to providing a strong beginning for your child’s growth and success.
